Later I bought a Barnes No.5 1/2 lathe to go with the attachment. Ass backwards I know, but I seem to find odd attachments for machine tools and then have to find a machine tool to go with the attachment.

15/08/2010· You could make a fun project out of that requirement. Once upon a time, my only machine was a 6 x 18 Atlas lathe someone gave me a tiny milling attachment. By modern standards, it was a joke, BUT it allowed me to make keyway operations, flats on motor shafts and the like, that were beyond previous capability.

I love my Barnes No. 5 since it's a lathe that will work when all petroleum fuels are gone, the grid is down, and all infrastructure has been wiped out.
